India, May 24 -- Multiple ways to pronounce the name, but the aim has always been the same. Cannes film festival is one of the most prestigious in the world. India's representation continues to grow with each passing year, with films like Karan Johar-Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound being officially screened this year, to filmmaker Payal Kapadia being chosen as a jury member. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, meanwhile, continues to spread her magic on the red carpet But there's growing chatter around the presence of people who have nothing to do with the films being screened, and instead representing big brands. Influencers paying to walk to build their own brands, is also common practice. Content creator Kusha Kapila recently had to stand up for herself when an Instagram reel dismissed her as a 'random celebrity' who was allowed to walk at the Cannes red carpet in 2024. Cannes is believed to be a celebration of cinema - but are we burying that 'authenticity' under 'Instagram aesthetics'? All this has been discussed by Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor, Lifestyle and Entertainment, in her show MiPhi presents The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, this week. Do you know how much it costs to go to the Cannes film festival, if you are obsessed with films? For starters, you cannot just buy a simple ticket and go! You need to be accredited, or be an aspiring filmmaker, film school student. to sum it up, you need to prove movies are your life. This, in a way, attempts to filter the real deal from those who just want to be one with the crowd and spruce up their Instagram feed. A new episode of MiPhi presents The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra drops every Friday at 7 pm across Hindustan Times, Hindustan and Mint's YouTube channels. Don't miss it! htc...
