India, Oct. 18 -- The 10th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) has been postponed in Assam to pay respects to the late Zubeen Garg and his contribution to Assamese art and culture, the organisers said on Thursday. The festival, which was scheduled to be held between December 4 and 7, will be organised sometime in 2026. "It is with a heavy heart that the 10th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival, originally scheduled for December 4-7, 2025, has been postponed to a later date in 2026. This decision comes as Assam mourns the loss of its most beloved cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, whose voice and vision defined generations. BVFF stands in solidarity with the people and the creative community," the organisers' post on Insta read. "As a festival deeply rooted in the cultural and emotional fabric of this land, we feel it is only right to pause our celebrations this year, in remembrance and respect," concluded the post. Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the state cabinet has decided to ask the Gauhati High Court to set up a fast-track court to conduct day-to-day hearings in the singer's death case. htc...
