Blouses that Dance Through the Festive Nights

avratri is here - nine nights when faith meets festivity, devotion dances with dandiya, and Durga Pujo pandals glow with artistry. Whether you're hopping pandals in Kolkata, twirling in a garba circle in Gujarat, or attending an intimate aarti closer home, fashion is as much a part of the celebration as music, food and rituals.
The saree may be the eternal star of the festive wardrobe, but this year, all eyes are on the blouse. A well-chosen blouse doesn't just complement the drape, it transforms it into a statement. Think playful mirror work under the twinkling lights of a garba night, or rich velvet brocade that catches the glow of a Durga Pujo pandal.
"From giving your own modern twist to the blouse, to picking the right type of jewellery, you can certainly be the head-turner during festivities," says designer Rina Dhaka, who believes the blouse is where experimentation lies.
Take cues from Bollywood's most stylish muses, from Ananya Panday's daring dori-tied blouse to Karisma Kapoor's demure full-sleeved elegance. "For daytime pandal visits, breathable fabrics like cotton silk and chanderi are your best friends. As evening falls, switch to luxurious textures like brocade, velvet, or sequins. Play with colour clashes, trendy cuts, puffed sleeves, or high necklines, and finish with traditional jewellery and flowers," advises stylist Isha Bhansali.
And if tailoring runs out of time? Fusion crop tops are your best hack. "Not all crop tops work as blouses, but many do, especially those with structure, embroidery, or mirror detailing. Rich fabrics like brocade or velvet elevate the look instantly," says designer Shruti Sancheti....
