Asked to strip: Rosamund recalls uncomfortable Bond audition
India, May 16 -- While Rosamund Pike might be known for her roles in Gone Girl (2014) and State of the Union (2019), her big break came when she snagged the role of Miranda Frost in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day.
Although the film gave the then 23-year-old a much-needed boost in her career, Rosamund, now 46, has admitted that landing the role wasn't easy and revealed that she was asked to strip when she tried out for the part.
"In the Bond audition, I was asked to unzip and drop the dress I was wearing, to stand there in underwear," the actor, who will be seen in Australian playwright Suzie Miller's next stage show Inter Alia, shared in a recent interview. "And I thought, 'Well, no, I'll be doing that if I get the part. I won't be doing that now.' I don't know what possessed me," she told Harper's Bazaar.
This was not her first brush with demands for nudity. A year after the film's release, Rosamund was asked to appear nude in the play Hitchcock Blonde. "There was a moment of, 'F***, they've given me this absolute stellar part, but it involves nudity'," she shared, adding, "I requested a dressing gown, which I got. I've usually spent my career being more clothed than was initially on the page," she recalled. htc...
