India, June 1 -- Poor menstrual hygiene continues to be a substantial cause of female morbidity and a major reason for the high incidence of reproductive tract infections in India. Menstruation and related issues are often neglected due to widespread myths, taboos, and lack of awareness. Furthermore, in many regions, women and girls also face limited access to safe and affordable menstrual hygiene products. With the challenges in mind, Alembic Pharmaceuticals drove a remarkable CSR initiative on World Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28) to strengthen awareness around menstrual hygiene and increase accessibility of menstrual products in the country. The initiative involved donating 300,000 sanitary pads within 24 hours, setting a new Guinness World Records title for the 'Most sanitary products donated in 24 hours'. This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with Scientimed Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The larger goal beyond distributing hygiene products was to reinforce the importance of good menstrual hygiene practices and break the existing societal, cultural, and religious restrictions. Alembic aimed at reaching out to several girls and women who unfortunately face barriers in accessing clean, safe, and affordable menstrual care. Atul Suri, Senior Vice President and spokesperson from Alembic Pharmaceuticals, says, "This record is more than a number - it's a strong message. Menstrual hygiene should be a right, not a luxury." By achieving this record, Alembic Pharmaceuticals emphasises its commitment to enhancing the landscape of women's health and wellness. The initiative sets a powerful example of how corporate accountability can result in large-scale genuine impact on society. htc...
