'Thamma's my biggest film ever, butI am calm'
India, Oct. 20 -- Taking the path less travelled has been a constant for Ayushmann Khurrana. From his debut in Vicky Donor (2012) and hits like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) to Bala (2019), his choices often seem calculated. But for the actor, it's not all serious. The actor, seen in Thamma, which was released today, shares, "I don't take myself so seriously! I only want to do clutter-breaking content. More than my character, I keep the story and content first."
Ayushmann explains that his choices come down to what he himself would enjoy watching in a theatre. "I am not catering to just myself. I rely on my gut instinct. My thought is 'is this the kind of film I want towatch?' Jo film main dekhna chahta hoon as an audience, I do it as an actor. At the same time, Thamma was a no-brainer. It is the biggest film of my life, for the first time a film of mine is releasing on Diwali," hesays, adding, "It's a big step forward for the horror-comedy universe created by (producer) Dinesh Vijan. I am usually known for films which are realistic and close to social comedies, but this is a little away from that."
Has Ayushmann been able to control his nerves with the film bringing a lot of firsts for him? The 41-year-old replies, "When you are with someone like Dinesh, you feel a sense of safety under his umbrella. He has a certain vision and is known for disruption. Thamma is taking the horror-comedy legacy forward. I am a part of the most sought after universe in Hindi cinema right now!"...
