India, May 27 -- A ctor Sargun Mehta, who returns to the big screen with the sequel to her 2022 hit Saunkan Saunkne, believes Punjabi cinema is steadily expanding its reach - thanks to strong content and the rise of streaming platforms. "Even if we can get five more people to invest their time in our stories, that's a win," says Sargun, noting how Punjabi films are now being discovered by audiences beyond their traditional base. "People today are watching everything - Korean, Turkish, English. Punjabi, being close to Hindi, isn't hard to understand." Citing her husband, actor Ravi Dubey, as an example, she shares, "Ravi isn't Punjabi, but he still understands my films. That shows we don't need to build an entirely new world for Hindi-speaking viewers - they can easily relate." Sargun adds that comedy remains Punjabi cinema's strongest suit. "Nobody does comedy better than Punjabis - it's something we've truly mastered. Everyone on a Punjabi film set, even someone with a single scene, nails their comic timing. Just as action defines South cinema, comedy is the language of Punjab," she ends....
