Sri Lanka, Feb. 15 -- Representatives of Sri Lanka's LGBTIQ+ community recently convened with Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana on February 12th.

The purpose of the meeting was to address the Private Member Bill proposed by Member of Parliament Premnath C. Dolawatte, aiming to amend Sections 365 and 365A of Sri Lanka's Penal Code.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the challenges encountered by the LGBTIQ+ community residing in Sri Lanka.

The gathering was facilitated by NextGenSL, an all-party youth organization, with the presence of Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Hansa Abeyratne.
