No major damage from'Cyclone Burevi', rains to continue - DMC
Sri Lanka, Dec. 3 -- So far, NO major damages to Sri Lanka have been reported due to Cyclone Burevi. However, very heavy rains & very strong winds have been forecast for next few hours
Director General of the Meteorological Department Athula Karunanayake stated that the direct impact of Cyclone Burevi is gradually decreasing.
He made this statement while participating in the Hiru TV Paththare Visthare program.
Accordingly, he said that the severity of the cyclone was gradually decreasing.
He said that due to this depression, the sea waves in the coastal areas from Poonaryn to Puttalam could rise up to 1 meter above the tidal level and the low lying coastal areas could be submerged by sea water.
