Sri Lanka, April 22 -- The Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) has released its latest report revealing a notable decrease in the overall rate of inflation in Sri Lanka, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) on a Year-on-Year basis.

In March 2024, the Year-on-Year inflation rate dropped to 2.5%, compared to 5.1% recorded in February 2024, signaling a significant decline in inflationary pressures.

Breaking down the contributions to the inflation rate, the report indicates that the food group accounted for 2.1%, while the non-food group contributed 0.4% to the overall inflation rate in March 2024.
