Sri Lanka, Jan. 19 -- The Supreme Court has ordered the Inspector General of Police to reinstate Inspector Stanley Perera of the Police Narcotics Bureau.

The Supreme Court also ordered then IGP Pujith Jayasundara and four other police officers, including former Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau Kamal Silva, to pay Rs. 25,000 each from their personal money when the petition was called.

The verdict was handed down by Supreme Court Judge Vijith Malalgoda with the concurrence of Chief Justices Jayantha Jayasuriya and Gamini Amarasekera after hearing a petition filed by former Inspector of Police Stanley Perera.

In addition, the government was ordered the petitioner to pay a legal fee of Rs. 50,000.
