Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- The Ministry of Power and Energy states that due to the prevailing rainy season, hydro power generation has increased to 55%.

The water levels have increased in the hydro electricity generating reservoirs such as Castlereagh, Maussakele, Kotmale, Victoria and Randenigala.

Power and Energy Ministry spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardena told the Hiru news team that the daily electricity requirement has also come down from 48 to 38 Gigawatts.
