Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- Following a wave of assassinations in Kabul and other cities, two gunmen had killed two female judges from Afghanistan's Supreme Court today (17) morning. The incidents take place while the Taliban representatives have been holding peace talks in Qatar.

In an attack that was carried out at around 08:30 a.m., the two judges who are yet to be named were killed while their driver had sustained wounds.

The case is currently being investigated by the security forces.

Releasing a statement, condemning the attacks, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani stated that "terror, horror and crime" was not a solution to Afghanistan's problem and beseeched the Taliban to accept "a permanent ceasefire".
