Sri Lanka, March 2 -- The World Health Organization (WHO) says the number of new coronavirus infections worldwide has risen in the past seven weeks.

"It's a warning to all of us, and if given a chance, the virus could rise again," said Maria van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization's head of technology, at a news conference in Zurich yesterday.

Although the increase in the number of coronaviruses is disappointing, it should come as no surprise that the World Health Organization (WHO) chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

He said it would be a mistake for any country to rely solely on vaccines to control coronavirus.
