Sri Lanka, March 29 -- Former President Maithripala Sirisena has been summoned to appear in court on April 4th to provide a statement regarding his recent remarks concerning the Easter Sunday bomb attacks by the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court.

This order came on Thursday 28 March following the submission of a report by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to the court, in accordance with the Attorney General's instructions.

The CID had called upon Sirisena to clarify his contentious statement about the Easter Sunday bombings, following directives from Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for an investigation into Sirisena's remarks.
