Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Public Accounts Committee will be open to the media from today.

The Committee is to convene this morning under the patronage of its Chairman, Parliamentarian Lasantha Alagiyawanna.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake and several others are due to attend the inauguration.

The Public Accounts Committee was established for the first time in 1923 and accordingly, it has been opened to the media after 96 years.

The Committee will look into the efficiency and the financial discipline of the Government Printing Department and the financial activities of 2015 and 2016, at its meeting today.
