Sri Lanka, March 2 -- Cabinet approval has been granted to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to develop the Western Terminal of the Port of Colombo in collaboration with Adani Company of India and its local agent John Keells.

However, the Japanese government has not responded to a request to nominate an investor to develop the Western Terminal.

The agreement and proposals for the construction, operation and handover of the Colombo Port West Terminal for a period of 35 years were recently forwarded by the Government to the Indian High Commission and the Embassy of Japan requesting the nomination of an investor.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited has been approved by the Indian High Commission.
