Sri Lanka, Oct. 30 -- Releasing a statement, the Department of Buddhist Affairs noted that in view of the prevailing situation in the country, it is essential that the forthcoming 'Katina Chhevara' ceremonies be held in accordance with health guidelines.

They further stated that the health authorities of the area must be informed of the ceremony, while the 'Katina Chhevaraya' (robe) should be brought from a short distance to be placed in the temple.

The Department added that the number of persons that participate in the 'Katina pooja' must be limited to 30, while the number of monks that participate in the ceremony must be limited to five.
