Sri Lanka, Jan. 19 -- MP Ashoka Abeysinghe alleged in Parliament today that a message was being sent to airport staff via email asking them to buy syrup for coronavirus.

However, Shehan Sumanasekera, Director of Operations, Airport and Airlines, confirmed that no such decision had been taken by the airport or the airline.

It has been 10 days since the clinical trials of the syrup produced by Dhammika Bandara of Kegalle claiming to be a cure for the corona virus has commenced.

However, when contacted, Kumari Weerasekera, Secretary to the State Ministry of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, said that she had never stated that the syrup could be used as a coronavirus medication before it was confirmed by clinical trials.
