Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- Four persons who were travelling in a luxury van and car with weapons were taken into custody yesterday in the town of Kekirawa.

Police said those arrested were residents of Galenbindunuwewa, Tissamaharama, Kandy and Dambulla.

Some tools including several sharp weapons and a pistol which had been hidden very expertly within the van were discovered and taken into custody by the Police.

Police said they have launched an investigation to find out whether they arrived in Kekirawa in preparation of carrying out a crime in the area or in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, a vehicle suspected to have been used in a crime was found by the Weligama Police.
