Sri Lanka, Jan. 26 -- Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga stated that since the re-opening of the airports, nearly 500 foreign travellers have applied for a visa to visit Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a function held at the Bandaranaike International Airport premises, the Minister stated that the present Government hopes to gradually revive the tourism industry which collapsed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also noted that the Government will not allow the country's development activities to be hampered by the spread of COVID-19 and remarked that they have resumed the large number of projects that were abandoned by the previous regime.
