With no police protection in place, Pune's Bhama Askhed project yet to take off

India, May 15 -- The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been unable to complete the Bhama Askhed dam water pipeline project with the rural police yet to provide police protection.
Saurabh Rao, Pune municipal commissioner, held a meeting with Naval Kishore Ram, district collector, and rural police on May 8 in which it was agreed that the police would give security for the civic body to start work from May 10. However, rural police are yet to give police protection.
Pravin Gedam, PMC officer incharge of the pipeline laying work, said, "PMC has deposited Rs.5 crore with the district collector for giving compensation to farmers. We would start work after police protection is in place."
