U.P. Woman dead, mother injured in acid attack
LUCKNOW/GORAKHPUR, April 11 -- A 23-year-old woman, who was to meet a prospective groom's family on Friday morning, was killed in an acid attack in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district, police said, adding that the condition of the woman's mother, who was also attacked, remains critical.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday in Morwan Imlia village while both of them were sleeping inside their house.
The victim died during treatment at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, while her 58-year-old mother is battling for life, police said.
Police are now probing whether the assault was driven by personal enmity or linked to the deceased's impending marriage.
