Bhubaneswar, March 22 -- Former Odisha MLA Sadashiv Pradhani and his family have allegedly been ostracised by a district unit of a tribal council for violating traditional norms by arranging an inter-caste marriage for his daughter, the tribal body said in a release on Saturday.
The decision was taken during a Bhatra tribe community meeting in Nabarangpur district, where members of Akhil Bharatiya Bhatra Vikas Parishad's district unit unanimously resolved to socially boycott Pradhani and his family for 12 years, the release said.
Community leaders said Pradhani, a former BJD MLA, got his daughter engaged to a man from another caste despite long-standing norms discouraging it.
