Washington, April 8 -- Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit the United States next week to attend the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, people aware of the matter said. Sitharaman will begin her trip in New York, where she is expected to meet chief executive officers (CEOs) of major companies with investments in India. In Washington, she is likely to hold talks with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other global finance ministers. Her visit comes after she skipped the institutions' annual meetings in late 2025.
