Punjab Vigilance bureau seeks sanction against Channi
Chandigarh, April 17 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has sought sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act to initiate a probe against former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi in the Goa property lease case, officials aware of the matter said on Thursday.
The move follows a preliminary inquiry into the leasing of a Punjab tourism-linked property in Goa. Vigilance Bureau officials confirmed that a formal request has been sent to the competent authority seeking approval under Section 17A to investigate the matter.
