New Delhi, Oct. 21 -- A month after a 21-year-old woman was gang raped and thrashed by two men near Indraprastha Park bus stand in central Delhi, the police on Sunday said they have arrested one of the suspects after questioning at least 4,000 persons.

Identifying the arrested man as 23-year-old Abdul Khalid, the police said the rape survivor had described him as a tall, bearded man who wore earrings. "To escape identification after the crime, Khalid had shaved his beard, chopped his hair and got rid of his earrings," said Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police (south-east).
