New Delhi, Sept. 28 -- The Manipur government is likely to adopt a "one district, one force" arrangement for better coordination and operations by security forces, as part of its efforts to restore normalcy in the northeastern state that has been engulfed in ethnic violence since May 3.

Under the arrangement, personnel of one paramilitary force will be responsible to maintain law and order in a district, according to a security official in Delhi, who added that the move is also aimed at ensuring accountability and reducing possibility of conflict among forces.
