New Delhi, April 7 -- Lieutenant governor (LG), VK Saxena on Saturday approved the immediate suspension of an assistant professor of a medical college who has been accused of sexually harassing 13 students.

The Delhi government, meanwhile, alleged that the matter was intentionally put under the wraps and the complainants were being forced to take back their complaints.

In an order issued on Saturday, Saxena said that although the initiation of disciplinary proceedings in such cases can only be done by the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA), which is headed by the chief minister, he had to take the decision as chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was in judicial custody.
