Belagavi, May 18 -- The government forensic laboratory in Bengaluru, that was trying to ascertain the reason behind the death of the five individuals found as skeletons in an abandoned house in Chitradurga in Karnataka, has revealed that they died from an overdose of sleeping pills. The skeletons, belonging to family members of retired PWD engineer, were found in December 2023.

Superintendent of police (SP) Devendra Kumar Meena said, "The skeletons were found on December 28, 2023, in the engineer's house on Chitradurga Central Prison Road. After several forensic tests, it was determined that the deaths occurred either in the last week of February or the first week of March," SP Meena stated.
