New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- Indonesia's death toll due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crossed the 100,000-mark on Wednesday, as the country continues to suffer from the worst wave of the pandemic compounded by the spread of the Delta variant. Indonesia is the second country in Asia after India to reach this grim milestone. Health ministry data showed that Indonesia recorded 1,747 deaths in the past 24 hours, pushing the cumulative count to 100,636.

Indonesia has now joined the list of countries including India and Brazil which have lost more than 100,000 people due to Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
