India's exports seen rising despite West Asia conflict
New Delhi, May 7 -- India's merchandise exports are likely to have grown in April despite the conflict in West Asia, government officials familiar with the matter said, pointing out that in the first three weeks of the month, they grew by around 21% over the same period last year, to $30 billion.
The officials attributed the growth to diversification of shipments to China, Southeast Asia, and Oceania regions.
The growth in April is all the more significant given that India's merchandise exports in March dipped 7.44% to $38.92 billion as compared to $42.05 billion in March 2025 because of the war and blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the officials said requesting anonymity.
