New Delhi, April 30 -- The Delhi government has notified an increase in the Environmental Compensation Charge (ECC) on commercial vehicles entering the capital, following directions from the Supreme Court. The revised rates raise ECC for light-duty and two-axle trucks from Rs 1,400 to Rs 2,000, and for three-axle and heavier trucks from Rs 2,600 to Rs 4,000. Environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the move aims to discourage polluting vehicles and encourage cleaner transport options. HTC
