New Delhi, June 11 -- The Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is expected to take a call soon on measures to cool food prices, including a plan to import limited quantities of wheat, officials said, requesting anonymity.
Elevated wheat prices and lower-than-targeted procurement of the grain may necessitate imports for the first time in six years by slashing import taxes, a person aware of the development said. Procurement refers to the government's purchases of cereals at federally fixed floor prices.
