Govt to notify Leprosy under Epidemic act to boost response
New Delhi, May 2 -- The government is set to notify leprosy under the Delhi Epidemic Diseases Act to strengthen surveillance, ensure early detection and improve treatment compliance, officials said on Friday.
Delhi health department has cleared the proposal and forwarded it to the LG's office for approval, they said.
A notifiable disease, by law, must be reported to public health authorities when diagnosed or suspected, enabling real-time surveillance, rapid response and data-driven interventions.
