NEW DELHI, March 15 -- Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Thursday claimed to have unearthed an international hawala and gold smuggling syndicate in Delhi.

The agency said the racket was busted following the arrest of two men from Rupaidiha in Uttar Pradesh, near the IndiaNepal border.

"The two men were trying to cross into Nepal by road when they were arrested," said deputy director of DRI's Delhi unit . "Forex worth Rs 1.4 crore were recovered from them. When questioned, they said that they had sourced it from a man in Delhi. Based on their information, a raid was conducted the same day at a residential building in Chandni Chowk with the help of Delhi Police.
