Corporate India must set an example during W Asia war
New Delhi, March 23 -- In India, we often exclaim, exasperated, that the West Asian crisis is not our war. But sadly, it is - now that it is in our front yard - and the conflict has driven LPG shortages and hiked airline prices. The government is negotiating and trading on one hand, and managing supplies internally on the other. It can't do much more at this point.
But, Corporate India can: significantly reduce flying, and equally, talk about it.
It can also stop hosting events with dinners or lunches as cooking fuel remains in short supply.
This is not symbolic; it is a first step towards creating a culture of self-respect de-linked from conspicuous consumption -- key to protecting India's resources.
