CHANDRAWAL WTP restored after five days, supply 'patchy'
New Delhi, March 27 -- Water supply to most of the areas covered under the Chandrawal water treatment plant (WTP) was restored on Thursday, five days after the pumphouse of the facility was flooded due to a burst pipe. Supply, however, was patchy, with residents saying that while it resumed on the day, evening supply was limited.
In a statement at 9pm on Thursday, the Delhi Jal Board said that the "water supply was affected due to a shutdown caused by technical reasons at Chandrawal WTP on March 22, 2026. Delhi Jal Board teams are working at war footing to restore water supply. Currently, water supply of 40 MGD capacity has been restored out of the total pumping capacity of 58 MGD.
