Washington, Feb. 4 -- Hours after the United States said it had detected a "high-altitude surveillance balloon" deployed by China over its continental territory, US secretary of state Antony Blinken called off his trip to Beijing scheduled for next week. On Thursday evening in Washington DC, a senior Pentagon official said that the US had high confidence that the balloon was deployed by China and President Joe Biden had been briefed and "asked for military options"....
