New Delhi, March 29 -- A Delhi court sentenced a 72-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in December last year in Nihal Vihar, police said.
In a judgment passed by the Tis Hazari Court on March 23, a fine of Rs.50,000 was also imposed on the man and a compensation of Rs.13.5 lakh was sanctioned to the survivor.
DCP (outer) Vikram Singh said, "On December 23 last year, the girl had gone to a grocery shop when the shopkeeper took the girl inside the shop and sexually assaulted her."
Based on the complaint, a case of rape with a victim under 12 years of age, criminal intimidation, and sexual assault was filed.karn pratap singh
