Toronto, May 9 -- The three men arrested in connection with the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar appeared before a Canadian court on Tuesday, people familiar with the matter said.

The Canadian authorities said on Friday that they have arrested three Indian nationals - Karan Brar, 22, Kamalpreet Singh, 22 and Karanpreet Singh, 28 - possibly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in connection with the murder. India has maintained that the murder and the eventual arrests were Canada's internal matter, with external affairs minister S Jaishankar saying that whatever was happening in Canada was "because of their internal politics".
