RAIPUR, May 21 -- At least 19 people were killed and three others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a valley in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh on Monday, police said, adding that 18 among the deceased were women.
According to police, the accident took place at around 2pm on Bahpani village under Kukdur police station limits. The pick-up mini goods vehicle was carrying 34 people, of which 12 jumped out of the vehicle before the accident.
Assistant superintendent of police Vikas Kumar said all the victims were residents of Simraha village of the district and were returning after plucking tendu leaves from a forest.
