Goa, May 24 -- Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday evening laid the foundation stone for a landmark tourism project atop the new Zuari Bridge - twin observatory towers and viewing galleries, to be constructed at a cost of Rs.270.07 crore. Speaking at the ceremony held at Chicalim Panchayat Hall, Gadkari described the project as a "game-changer" for Goa's tourism sector.

He proposed that the State government organize a design competition among local architects for the observatory towers, with the winner receiving a prize of Rs.1-2 lakh.
