Goa, May 23 -- In a strong appeal to the public, officials from the Water Resources Department (WRD) in Dicholi have urged citizens to avoid using plastic and to properly dispose of used plastic waste instead of dumping it into drains. The warning comes amid ongoing efforts to remove silt from the Dicholi river, as accumulated plastic waste has been found to significantly increase the risk of flooding during the monsoon.

On Friday, WRD officials, including Chief Engineer Ankush Gaonkar, Assistant Engineer Shailesh Pokale, and Naresh Pokale, visited the site to inspect the progress of the silt removal operation. The team highlighted that unseasonal rains have posed challenges to the work, but efforts are continuing at a rapid pace.
