Goa, Jan. 5 -- A new water pump has been installed to drain accumulated water from the salt pans in Agarwada, helping resolve persistent waterlogging problems that have affected local livelihoods.
The pump, supplied by the Water Resources Department (WRD), was officially commissioned at a brief ceremony attended by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar and Panchayat Sarpanch Shilpa Naik.
Authorities said the initiative will greatly benefit salt pan workers by improving working conditions and preventing seasonal flooding. The move is also expected to help preserve the village's traditional salt-making industry, which relies heavily on smooth water management for continued operation and economic stability.
