Goa, April 30 -- A remarkable yet controversial IAS officer, Ashok Khemka, known for his integrity and willingness to fight against corruption, retired on April 30, 2025, after over 30 years of service, which included a staggering 57 transfers, averaging one every six months. Khemka, who was born in Kolkata, earned his BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1988. He later completed a PhD in Computer Science from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He joined the civil services in 1991 in the Haryana cadre and experienced numerous transfers, as mentioned. The 1991-batch officer retired as Additional Chief Secretary in the Transport Department, a position he was posted to in December 2024.
