Goa, Jan. 11 -- Batting superstar Virat Kohli etched his name deeper into the record books on Sunday, January 11, by becoming only the third batter in world cricket to complete 28,000 runs in international cricket. The landmark came during the first ODI between India and New Zealand at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.

The 37-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi needed 25 runs heading into the match and reached the milestone while chasing a target of 301. Kohli brought up the record in the 13th over of India's innings, driving Adithya Ashok for a four on the fifth delivery. The boundary took his overall international tally to 28,001 runs.
