Goa, Aug. 27 -- India's Online Gaming Bill, banning real-money gaming, is set to disrupt the cricket ecosystem, hitting top players and smaller leagues financially.
Rohit Sharma, Dream11's biggest athlete, earned 6-7 crore INR annually, while Virat Kohli made 10-12 crore via MPL. With Dream11 withdrawing sponsorship of the Indian jersey, the IPL and other tournaments may lose crucial funding. Cricbuzz reports suggest cricketers could collectively lose 150-200 crore INR in endorsements. Young players and mid-tier stars face the steepest losses.
Smaller leagues, such as the European Cricket Network, are already suspending operations due to reliance on gaming sponsors. While the IPL can manage lost revenue, smaller tournaments may struggle...
