Goa, Sept. 9 -- India on Tuesday voiced concern over escalating violence in Nepal, where at least 19 people have died in protests triggered by a social media ban. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it was "deeply saddened by the loss of many young lives" and urged all sides to exercise restraint and seek peaceful dialogue.

The MEA also advised Indian nationals in Nepal to follow local curfews and safety advisories.

The unrest began after the Oli government briefly blocked major social media platforms, sparking anti-corruption protests across Kathmandu and other cities. Police firing left dozens wounded, in what local media called Nepal's deadliest crackdown in recent years.
