Goa, Jan. 6 -- Goa Forward Party president Vijay Sardesai has said that the Congress made a strategic mistake by not forming an alliance with his party in the Corlim Zilla Panchayat constituency.

Sardesai pointed out that the Goa Forward candidate secured the second position in the polls, while the Congress had "no presence" in the constituency. He argued that if the Congress had supported his party, BJP candidate Siddesh Naik "would definitely have been defeated."

He said the result highlights the need for greater opposition unity in constituencies where the anti-BJP vote risks being split.
